POLITICAL TV: Fox News 1-10-08 Republican Debate
2008-01-11 03:29:00 by Moviezzz in The Moviezzz Blog

Tonight, the Republican Presidential Candidates debated for the third time this week. This time, they were in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Things began a bit differently, with the singing of the National Anthem. Not the candidates (although that might have been more interesting) but a taped piece with a country singer.

And then the debate began. There was little new here.

They let Ron Paul in this one, which made it a bit more fun. At one point, he went on a rant about Iran, and attacking the other candidates. When he was informed by the moderators that the other candidates shared his position, he replied “Oh, I couldn’t hear them”.

Romney seems to have held his own, got a lot of applause for some of his comments. He may have been the winner of the night.

Huckabee got beat up a bit. But, he does seem to have the best sense of humor, and, even if you disagree with him on every issue, you can’t help but like him. Maybe not like him enough to vote for him though.

I think McCain should do something to end the writers’ strike. He seems to be out of material. How often do we have to hear about “the Bridge to Nowhere”? Sure, government waste is a big issue, buy how many campaigns has this been talked about in?

Rudy Giuliani seems to be running for Ed McMahon’s job. I think we hear his laugh more than any substantive talk. And Fred Thompson gets more screen time on LAW AND ORDER.

All in all, I would have rather have been watching CELEBRITY APPRENTICE.

Maybe they should bring President Bush onto the stage and eliminate one Republican at the end of each debate.

“Fred, you’re a good actor, but you gave us very little tonight.”

“But wait, Mr. President. We still have more time. Only two states have voted”

“I keep hearing that, but I don’t see you even trying. Ron Paul beat you in those states.”

“I’ll try Mr. President. I’ll try!”

“Fred, it’s too late. It's over. You’re fired”

Maybe more people would watch if that is how it went down.

EDIT: In the Fox post show, the audience seemed to think Fred won the debate??? Ok, I must have fallen asleep a bit there.
